Food South Australia, the Australian Institute of Packaging, the Fight Food Waste Centre for Cooperative Research and Food Innovation Australia Ltd (FIAL) are partnering to present a two part program designed to help you understand what you need to do to reduce your food and packaging waste and get your business ready to meet the National Packaging Targets set to be introduced in 2025.
The Sustainable Packaging to Reduce Food Waste Program includes:
26 February 2020
This introductory workshop will explore the complexities and challenges of moving to sustainable packaging to reduce food waste with experts from the Australian Institute of Packaging and also includes a tour of the Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority Material Recovery Facility.
22-23 July 2020
Building on the introductory workshop, the second stage of the program includes a one day workshop designed to facilitate discussion among participating businesses to identify common gaps, challenges and opportunities and site visits/one-on-one consultations (note: site visits available for Adelaide metro area only).
Following completion of the second workshop, consultation and site visits, participants will be given access to FIAL's online portal, the Food Matrix, providing you with access to packaging experts who can help you with the next steps and answer your questions about the next steps in your sustainable packaging strategy. Access to this support will be available until 30 November 2020.
The Sustainable Packaging to Reduce Food Waste Program is open to South Australian food and beverage manufacturers, processors and producers who are actively seeking ways to reduce food waste, implement the use of sustainable packaging and focusing on implementing strategies to meet the 2025 National Packaging Targets.
