Award categories

Entry in the 2020 South Australian Premier's Food and Beverage Industry Awards has now closed.

Who can enter?

Entry in the Awards is open to any business which is a food or beverage producer, manufacturer or franchisor, provided your head office or principal place of business is in South Australia (and if the business is operated by a franchisee, the head office or principal place of business of the franchisor is in South Australia) and at least half the expenses of the business are incurred in South Australia.

Entry in any open business category (with the exception of the stand alone Emerging Business Award) automatically enters your business in the Business Excellence Award. Food or beverage producers, manufacturers or franchisors may enter up to two open business categories in addition to the Business Excellence award category providing you did not win in those categories in 2019.

Leader or Next Generation award entrants can be self or peer nominated, as long as they live in South Australia and currently work in the South Australian food and beverage sector. Next Generation entrants must be 35 years of age or younger. You may submit an individual award entry in addition to your business award applications providing you did not win in that category in 2019.

Please note:

  1. Each award category may have additional eligibility requirements, outlined on the downloadable pdf for each award. Links to these are available below.
  2. Some open business awards are separated into categories based on the number of full time equivalent staff (FTEs) you have - either up to 15 FTEs or more than 15 FTEs. For help to calculate your FTEs, click here.
  3. Service Providers are only eligible for the Service Provider Award. Unfortunately due to modifications to the 2020 Awards resulting from the impacts of COVID-19, this award category is unable to be offered as part of the 2020 program.
  4. Restaurants, cafes, food service and wine businesses are not eligible to enter the South Australian Premier's Food and Beverage Industry Awards.
