A framework for growth through innovation

In September 2017, Food South Australia released our strategic framework for growth through innovation for the food and beverage industry. The objective of this framework is to provide an industry-led context for the development of activities, programs and policy affecting the food and beverage industry.

This framework has been developed from industry's own priorities and challenges, identified through a major research project undertaken by Food South Australia and the Centre for Global Food and Resources at the University of Adelaide, and included both primary and secondary research, industry consultations and workshops.

The framework is intended for use by all involved in the development of programs, projects, policy and services for the sector and includes four overarching priorities identified by the South Australian food and beverage industry as critical to enabling successful growth an innovation:

  • facilitating opportunities for business and industry growth
  • growing skills
  • creating an environment for successful collaboration
  • establishing innovative business models

The strategic themes were identified through a major research project undertaken by Food South Australia and the Centre for Global Food and Resources at the University of Adelaide. Conducted through 2016/17, the research process included a survey, workshops and in-depth interviews. The project was undertaken with funding support from Primary Industries and Regions SA.
